Week 3
Outline of Goal
I sent my defined topic to Mrs. Eleonor and she told me that she though my topic was great! which was something which motivated me a lot to keep the project going. She told me I had to specify the group of people I was going to work with and I've decided it's going to be 5th, 6th, 8th and 10th graders. Another thing I had to do was to find out about people's study methods fast and to know if I had to focus on something else than learning styles. I'm going to figure that out in my investigation and in the survey I make to the grades I mentioned above.
After this feedback, I filled in the Personal Project Outline format:
After this feedback, I filled in the Personal Project Outline format:
13/02/13
Today I had my first meeting with my supervisor, Felicity. We talked about my topic and the ideas I had for it and she gave me some interesting ideas on how I could start collecting the information. She made me realize that my initial idea of making a change in the curriculum to change the way our classes are given, wasn't very realistic. Truth is people have tried to change teaching techniques for a long time and it's really difficult to make a change in the teaching methodology at school. Therefore, I'll focus my project only in helping others to improve their study methods based on their intelligence type.
Because this represented a big change in my topic, I filled again the Personal Project Outline to include the corrections:

Skills
The ATL skills I've showed in this part of the process are:
Thinking skills
Critical Thinking
Creativity and innovation
Reflection
Self-Management
Thinking skills
Critical Thinking
- Consider ideas from other perspectives and points of view (by listening to my supervisor and accepting the suggestions she made).
- Plan to achieve a goal, including identifying targets and outlining steps (this was partly done at this stage while filling in my outline of goal, because I explained what I wanted to do and how I was going to be able to do it).
Creativity and innovation
- Consider all alternatives (by specifying that I will use different resources to find information)
- Utilize old ideas in new ways and combine parts in new ways (I'm using things i've previously learned to form a new product and acquire a new knowledge).
Reflection
- Demonstrate a preparedness to make changes to ineffective learning strategies. (I've detected that theres an ineffective way of learning from part of the students, which is why I want to do something to help them).
- Seek out constructive criticism (By asking questions to my supervisor about different things i'm not sure about my project).
- Make connections between learning gained in different subject areas. (Because I've made a connection between biology and neurolenguistic procesess).
- Inquire in different contexts to gain a different perspective and
Change the context of an inquiry to gain different perspectives. (I wasn't sure about which was the best context for my personal project; If "the world connected as a whole" or "Creativity and Forms of expressions" was the best one, but at the end I decided the best was "The world connected as a whole")
- Consider, respect and analyze different opinions, points of view, ideas, and preferences. (I heard the advice Ms. Felicity gave me and really thought about it, which was why I changed my goal at the end of the meeting).
Self-Management
- Arrive to class with the appropriate equipment. (I brought the paper Ms. Eleonor told us to fill with our meeting with our supervisor, as well as the ideas I had about how I could do my project).
