Weeks 6-7
Week 6
After the investigation I've made and looking at the summary of the most important parts, here are the possible survey questions I could make to the community to find out what is their opinion of the topic and how much we know about it.
Possible Survey Questions
Have you been taught how to study?
Do you use a study method? If yes, which? / How do you study? /What do you study?
Do you have good academic results? (test results)
Do you find studying stressful or difficult?
Would you like to improve your studying routine?
Do you know what multiple intelligences are?
Do you concentrate easily when it is time to study?
Do you study while listening to music?
When you study, do you leave your Facebook, twitter, blackberry or iPhone near you?
Do you have a special place to study?
Do you study in the same way for math and humanities?
Do you plan your study periods with a timetable?
Do you buy summaries from other people to study?
Do you study the day before the exam?
Does somebody else help you to study?
How do you feel before a test?
Do you review your class notes or you learn summaries from somebody else?

2nd meeting with supervisor
During the second meeting with Mrs. Felicity I showed her the ideas I had for the survey. I told her how I thought it would be better if I had a survey for bach and one for primary and she helped me with the vocabulary for the one in primary so the kids could understand it easily. She also looked at my grammar and corrected the order of the questions. I decided to make an online survey because in this way I could just send it to everyone and they will fill it out when they can. It's also more eco-friendly if I do it this way. To do the survey in primary i'm going to talk with mr. Wallis and ask him if he could give 5th and 6th graders the link for my survey so they can fill it in the first 5 minutes of his class. In Bach i'm going to send it to the people of 10th grade through email, but im also going to ask Juan Carlos and Mr. Lasso if they can do the same thing as Mr. Wallis.

Week 7
I've already published my surveys in the following links:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1L0Iuf9yjc-YWVJR9l8aS1fA9Ca-Z-EF42kL85cP10LY/viewform (Bach)
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zrd3XPd_yKxr3-atBEaN3xsAqb8NjR0Et7VnsC8Rg7I/viewform (Primary)
I went to talk to Mr. Wallis and he wasn´t there so I sent him an email and he said I he was going to make the survey for fifth graders but unfortunately he didnt have class with sixth graders. I waited a week and only 4 people had answered my survey so I had to go to primary during to breaks with my laptop and iPhone to make the survey. In the end I had less results of the number I was hoping, but at least they were enough to get conclusions.
In bach more people had answer but still I didn't see any help from the 8th graders, so Mrs. Felicity helped me out and sent the link to her eighth grade classes. In the end I had 45 people answering my survey, which was enough to analyze the results.

Survey Analysis:
After I recollected enough results, I made some graphs and analysis of the most interesting results in each section
Interesting results in PRIMARY:
Interesting results in PRIMARY:
-In the question where they had to answer why they thought that teachers should or should not teach them how to study some answered:
Yes because I think is very important to learn that
For being better at exams
Because if not we gan get confused
Because it's the basis of your learning
Because we need a study guide
No because its ilogic
They don`t need to because we all have different ways
Because each one has their way to memorize

Summary of Results:
This were the results I found the most relevant and important to show to the head of sections to support my idea of the need of including a space where students learn how to study in the curriculum.
PRIMARY
56% of students havent been taught how to study for a test.
56% of students dont have a particular place where they always sit to study
56% of students think that their teachers should teach them how to study.
The most common study method is to sit and read their notebooks until they memorize what they need to learn and/or read their notes and say them out load without looping at them and then write down what they remember.
BACH
93% of students would like to be taught different study methods base don their habilities to learn.
60% of students study the night before.
34% of students have their computer or phone with them while studying.
48% of students listen to music while they study.
the most likely thing bach students use to study for an exam is their own class notes. (79%)
63% of students study the night before.
The most common study method in Bach is to make a summary of class notes (flashcards and concept maps) and then learn them (35%).

Skills
The ATL skills I've showed in this part of the process are:
Thinking skills:
Critical Thinking
Self-Management Skills:
Research Skills:
Information and media literacy
Self Management:
Communication:
Thinking skills:
Critical Thinking
- Make logical, reasoned judgments and create arguments to support them. (I showed this particular skill while I was trying to make the conclusions from my survey. One important I made was that 48% of Bach students know how to study because once -mr. Watson made an assembly to discuss this topic, but as 8th graders weren't in the section yet, they don't know how to revise, so they are the other 52%).
- Apply strategies of “guesswork” and generating “what if” questions (While designing my survey, I did loads of guesswork on how was the general situation of study habits of students in the section, and thought also about what they could think of while reading my questions, so with the help of my supervisor I made them as easy and clear as possible).
- Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products or processes. (I applied the things I had learnt in technology, such as how to make an online survey, to produce and process my survey).
- Consider ethical, cultural and environmental implications of issues. (I decided to make an online survey because in this way, I wouldn't have to waste ink and paper in some forms which I know not everybody would've answered honestly.)
- Exhibit a positive attitude towards using technology that supports collaboration, learning and productivity ( I used technology to produce and analyze my survey, as well as to distribute it to the people I needed to give it to.)
- Create projects and products using knowledge and skills gained across different subject areas. (Making the survey was a skill I developed in technology class, as well as making videos and uploading them to YouTube, and I could use this knowledge to gain new information to benefit my project).
Self-Management Skills:
- Structure information appropriately in written, oral and visual work. (Because I have passed my written responses to charts and diagrams so they can be easily understood).
- Keep to class schedules and assignment deadlines. (I had agreed with my supervisor that next meeting I was going to show to her the survey, which i did).
- Seek out criticism and feedback from others, and make informed choices about including it in one’s work. (I had some open questions in my survey and I did some interviews, which allowed me to know different points of view and thoughts about the topic of my personal project and the importance it had to students, in an indirect way).
Research Skills:
Information and media literacy
- Utilize different media to obtain perspectives. (I used different medias to obtain information: Survey, Interviews, blogs and websites)
- “Translate” information from one sensory mode to another. (To make the survey, I transferred the information on my research to questions, to find out if students were studying correctly)
- Collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions. (After processing the data I took the most important results in a summary and used them to support my arguments to the head of section)
- Process data and report results. (I organized all data into charts and graphs and included some of them in the report I gave to Mrs. Patricia).
- Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media. (as well as for the survey, I made a summary and a small evaluation after each information I found, in which I said why it was useful and which conclusions I could get from each of them)
- Organize and interpret data using analogue and digital tools (I used the computer and google docs to make my graphs)
- Formulate provocative and relevant questions (While designing the survey)
- Identify different points of view and bias. (Not everyone answered what I though they would answer, and the open questions in the survey and what students said about how they revised made me identify new areas of inquiry like how to study depending on the subject or if listening to music was useful or not).
- Utilize different media to obtain perspectives.
Self Management:
- Use different information organizers for different purposes. (Because I have transformed the information I collected into graphs)
Communication:
- Use a variety of speaking/writting techniques to make meaning clear for different audiences and purposes. (With the help of my supervisor we made the questions clear for primary and bach students, so they answered exactly what I was looking for).
- Make inferences and draw conclusions. (After making the graphs, I've taken out the most important points of the results and made conclusions with them to show it to the head of section).
- Organize information logically. (By organizing the survey to make it easy to understand and to fill in, and organizing the results in diagrams).
